How To Make Music with Modular Synthesizers

+++ WHAT? 

From building a classic analog synth patch to complex modulations and the total turnaround of each module's functionality.

In  the first part of our workshop series about Modular Synthesis we are  starting from basic synth patching and are going to reveal the hidden  functionalities and advantages of modular synthesis and why it is so  fascinating to use. This class is absolutely beginner friendly and will  be the basis for the following workshop modules where we will guide you  deeper into the world of modular synthesizers, sound design and analog  music production.

* Creating a classic analog synth voice (VCO, VCF, VCA, ADSR)

* *Using modules in creative ways  (VCO as an LFO, Filter as a VCO, LFO as a clock, envelope as slew limiter, VCO as clock, etc) 

*** LFO vs. audio rate modulation  (FM, AM, etc) 

**** Hands on!  Build Your own patch using a few simple (but versatile) modules, and compare  results (to illustrate the range of sounds possible with just 3 / 4  modules)

Halosaur  (AKA Steph Lefrancois) is a music producer, recording engineer, live  performer and teacher. His music is composed on an extensive modular  setup, giving it a distinctive raw, exploratory vibe. Steph, who's also a  drummer, focuses on groovy, intricate percussion, layered with  evocative textures.

Over the past 20 years, Steph has dedicated  his time to spreading knowledge, refining his craft, defining his sound  and releasing on world-renowned labels such as R&S, KMS, Toolroom,  and !K7, to name a few. Enriched by those diverse experiences and  connections, he's now poised to channel a lifetime of inspiration,  performing live on modular and Octatrack with one thing in mind: to make  the crowd lose themselves on the dance floor. 

Steph has shared  his relaxed teaching style at Scheidersladen for 2 workshops, and,  combined with his real life experience as a modular performer (as one  half of Kitmun), delivers engaging and practical instruction.
